You all have to understand what it means to me to be able to step & stroll in the African American Day Parade this year ✨
When I was 11 years old, I joined the step team at my church, and I remember I learned a step/chant called “Finesse”, to which my coach put me front and center to perform in front of the entire team at practice one day.
She saw something in me. She saw my spunk and the little fire I had in me, even as quiet as I (thought I) was. I remember forgetting for a moment how shy I was, and reciting the chant with all the voice and attitude I could harness. And I remember my coaches clapping, overjoyed, and saying “That’s how you do it. That’s how I want y’all to do it.” .
Who would’ve thought that all these years later, I would be stepping with my Sorority, and that same spunk was there ☺️
Thank you for always seeing the light in me. Seeing my fire. Because look at where I am now, and my heart is so full 💕
Sorors, thank you for making my first AADP as a stepper & stroller so memorable and special for me. Thank you to Val & Kim for your visionary leadership throughout this entire process, from the practices to the actual parade, you both lead us with love and made sure we looked amazing! So grateful to be able to bond with my Sorors in this way ✨
Look out for us next year ✨💖💚 .
