Today is World Suicide Prevention Day - a day of awareness and a collective commitment to taking steps in action through multiple resources and implemented programs in place to help prevent suicides.
I will never forget being at a luncheon and hearing @milesadcox speak about the importance for artists/songwriters to have a safe space like @porterscall to share and feel safe to be seen - and how it should be one of the first things you sign up for when you come to town; AND then he said, "maybe if we encouraged artists to do so, we wouldn't have stories like Robin Williams." I've replayed that thought many times.
I've been thinking about everyone that I've known who have struggled, past the point of their pain, in which they felt could never be shared. I’ve also put prayer and love around those who I’ve known who have passed from suicide - and their loved ones today. The greatest gift we give ANYone, in this life … is our life…. LIVED. +++
While I've never felt ever being at the point where the thought has entered my mind, I have spent moments in the silent space where fear and doubt, where pain and past have paralyzed the very moment I was in and where I’ve felt alone in the lonely. +++
If you are struggling or know someone who is and is looking for help - I encourage you to reach out to those professionals who are compassionate and safe to speak to. I'd also encourage everyone - if you ask someone how they are - stranger or close friend - that you allow both of you, the time and space to share whatever they choose to share. God could be using you. What I know for sure is, God has big ass plans for you, and me and ALL in this world. Keep showing UP - in the awesomeness and in the suckiness. There is always MORE amazing grace - waiting to be freed!! +++
